Apparently Mr. Free did NOT die.
That is true at least when discussing the Milwaukee music industry.
June 2 kicked off the start of a favorite weekly summer activity, Jazz in the Park. The lineup featured Milwaukee Soul, a local band that makes everyone want to stand up, shake their hips and sing along to the funky beat.
The event not only kicked off the start of the 25th season of JITP but it also marked the start of a popping music season here in MKE. During the summer Milwaukee’s music scene can be described with two words: Live and free. What other major, metropolitan city can describe their music scene that way? From Bayview’s Chill on the Hill to Sunday morning music at the Lakefront Colectivo it’s easy to find live, free music every day of the week.
Looking for something featuring artists of more variety? Check out, River Rhythms, happening every Wednesday in Pere Marquette Park. This funky fest landscapes music genres from country to indie and everywhere in-between.
In rain or shine, free, live, musical events will be happening throughout the summer. Check out the full summer line up here.
